With advancements in technology skyrocketing in recent years, particularly with the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI), it is an important time to discover how these advancements can be used in the healthcare industry to speed up processes, streamline treatments and ultimately improve the patient experience.

After being honoured to be invited to attend the London Biotechnology Show on the 18 - 19 June 2025 at the Excel London, I got the opportunity to meet some amazing people, pioneering the way in healthcare with advanced technology. Talks were held on things from cutting edge technologies to the role AI is playing in advancing healthcare. The event was crammed full of exhibitors showing off their latest laboratory gadgets and systems aimed at simplifying complex scientific processes.
Some of the top exhibitors I had a chance to speak to included:
ReactWise: A company that helps experimentalists in pharma, biotech, and chemical manufacturing optimize (bio)chemical processes using machine learning and advanced algorithms.
Avidity Science: A global company committed to supporting the scientific community with high-quality, innovative products and exceptional service.
Imobisoft: A software company delivering bespoke automation and tech solutions since 2009. Known for their work with NHS trusts and global clients, they focus on innovation and collaboration to solve real-world problems.

Known for pushing creative boundaries, the company blends professionalism with a distinctive flair, earning a reputation for design excellence in the medical communications space. With a mission to break from the ordinary, they continue to carve out a unique path in the industry.
Bishop Simon: Partnering with biotech and pharma companies to identify and address gaps in health, safety, and biosafety. They provide tailored risk mitigation solutions to help prevent litigation, fines, and reputational damage, ensuring safety is always a top priority.
GutSee Health: Pioneering a new era in gut health by using advanced AI and multi-omics data to uncover the root causes of IBS. Their platform identifies complex microbiome-host interactions and delivers precision therapies, including CRISPR-like tools, to restore gut balance and provide long-term relief.

As well as the many exhibitors, there were also some top speakers, including Thomas Balkizas - Senior Director Life Sciences at Microsoft, Mark Davies - Chief Health Officer at IBM, Jakob E. Larsen - Target Discovery Project Director at Novo Nordisk and Dr Matthew Howard - Head of Healthcare Data Sciences at Amazon Web Services, as well as many other big names in the biotechnology field. Their talks featured topics from AI innovations to Cell and Gene Therapy, as well as Regenerative Medicine.
The show was an amazing opportunity to learn how AI development is influencing the healthcare industry in different ways that not so far back in history may have been unimaginable. From organising health data, to finding study participants, these leading companies are pioneering the way towards an advanced medical system both for the practitioner and the patient. AI in healthcare is still in its infancy but making great leaps at an astounding rate.
The 3rd Edition Biotechnology Show has been scheduled for 9 - 10 June 2026 at the Excel, London. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to be a part of the advancement of biotechnology.
